It is advisable
to use a wet suit in case you want to snorkel. Snorkeling is at its
best at this time of the year.
At Espanola, Waved Albatross are nesting. Frigate-birds continue courting
at North Seymour, and Nazca (or Masked Boobies) are getting ready to start
breeding. Galapagos Sea Lions continue being our delight around the place.
Feb. / 2009.
- Galapagos weather
The hot season has arrived! Days are sunny and very hot, with occasional
drizzles. There's almost no wind, so the seas are very calm. Air temperature
is around 22-29ºC, cooling down a little during the night time. A
water-proof wind-breaker is advisable. The water has warmed up, too. Average
temp.: 24ºC, depending on the site. And it's clear, great for snorkeling!
Don't forget your wet suit. A shorty would do fine -mainly for protection
against the sun.
At Espanola, Nazca boobies have already gotten chicks.
Frigate birds continue courting at North Seymour, and there're marine
iguanas displaying reproductive behavior all over the archipelago.
Dec. / 2008. - Galapagos weather
December is, according to text and guide books, the month when the hot
season starts. However, this December shows the typical characteristics
of the transition season. Days remain overcast (particularly in the Southern
islands). Air temperature ranges between 21 to 28ºC, cooling down
at night time. The wind is less strong, nevertheless, we recommend you
to bring a water-proof wind-breaker.
The water temperature is around 23ºC, and quite clear. Snorkeling
is very good. Don't forget your wet suit!
Magnificent Frigate birds continue breeding at North Seymour. There are
sea lion pups all around the place, and in Espanola, the male marine iguanas
are displaying their breeding colors, getting ready for the mating season.
